About
Ignite the spark within you
With increasing demand on the system, together with advances in treatment and a need to monitor co-morbidities and consider drug side effects, there is little time left within consultations to discuss relevant dietary and lifestyle factors which are contributing to people’s ill health. Instead, we are utilising a symptom-reduction medical model.
My focus is now directed towards helping others find a way through the maze of confusing health messages and to explore the potential benefits of dietary, lifestyle and behavioral change.
Having experienced symptoms of an inflammatory arthritis with chronic pain and undergoing a total hip replacement in 2014, I understand the frustrating external search for answers and solutions. More recently, I have suffered with the after effects of coronavirus infection and again have been reminded of the importance of a whole person approach to improving health and wellbeing.
I am a certified Women’s Coach and Trainer with One of many™ and this together with my other training and qualifications has enabled me to blend a wealth of tools and techniques to create and support effective programmes to achieve results.
My vision is of a new health care paradigm, fit for the 21st century, where each of us takes control and are agents of our own health and wellbeing and feel empowered to make simple changes to help us live long, happy and fulfilled lives.
We all need allies on our journey with structured support and accountability. This helps to highlight that life is so much more than survival but to experience this, it is imperative our motivation is positive, rather than fear-based and that it comes from within.
I am proud to support the following organisations:
- Advisory panel member of the UK Health Coaches Association (UKHCA)
- Advisory board member for British Association for Holistic Medicine and Health Care (BHMA)
- Advisory Board member of the Real Food Campaign
- Clinical and Health Advisory Panel member for ‘Health Results’, dedicated to raising awareness of the importance of improving metabolic health.
I am also co-director of ‘First You’, a not-for-profit company set up with the aim to support the mental health and wellbeing of healthcare professionals.
I also founded NHS.Gifts on the 70th anniversary of the NHS to promote the value of individual and small lifestyle changes in improving people’s health and wellbeing and to provide empowering health related information.
In 2020, I helped facilitate access to The Chrysalis Effect programme for fibromyalgia for an NHS cohort of patients through my work in primary care.

ABOUT DR ALISON SABINE
Dr Alison Sabine has worked in the NHS for more than 30 years. She is a Consultant Rheumatologist but her experience as a patient and as the parent of a patient has radically changed her view of the way we practice conventional medicine. She fears Doctors have become symptom managers and believes that instead they should be going upstream to find the root cause of people’s ill health. She became interested in how lifestyle change impacts our health and wellbeing and has trained as a Health Coach, Nordic Walking and Fitness Instructor and is now a Women’s Certified Coach and Trainer with One of Many™, recognising the importance of the mind body connection and considering the whole person, not simply individual systems.
